26-year-old Akinyemi Borishade, a police officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has been fired and charged with battery after he repeatedly punched a woman in the chest while she was in handcuffs. In a video released by the police department, Borishade is seen attacking a bar worker, 31-year-old Mayra Martinez who was charged with trespassing and resisting police. According to a police report, Martinez was drunk and belligerent when two officers, including Borisade, attempted to remove her from the bar where she worked after she quit on her first day. She kicked out at them and tried to bite them. Sheriff Mike Williams said in a press conference:  'There are ways that this could have been dealt with without striking her. He could have turned her around and held her in a transporting position that they are trained in.' The president of the Nigeria Football Federation,  Amaju Pinnick has denied reports making the rounds in the International media that the Federation was snubbed by former Tottenham and QPR manager Harry Redknapp. The NFF is currently in search of a high calibre foreign coach to take charge of the Super Eagles qualification for Russia 2018. There were reports that Redknapp had agreed to manage Nigeria's senior team before making a u-turn to work as consultant for an Australian club.  When asked about the reports by Sporting Life magazine, Amaju Pinnick said 'Totally untrue'. Redknapp a highly respected coach, has accrued nearly 1500 games as a top flight manager and apart from his new role as the Mariners consultant, he acts as an advisor to Derby County.

A soldier allegedly shot and killed an unidentified woman in Effurun near Warri in Delta state today April 30th. According to ThisDay , the woman whose daughter was getting married at a place far from her house, boarded a tricycle to a relatives house close to the venue of the wedding. According to reports, the tricycle operator arrived her home early enough to beat the movement restriction as the state was observing its monthly sanitation exercise. As the woman and the tricycle operator approached Jakpa junction, they were flagged down by soldiers but for fear of being detained and dealt with, the tricycle operator refused to stop. The shoulders opened fire, hitting the woman. The bulled pierced through under her left breast. Her body has been deposited at the morgue. The late woman's first daughter named Alero confirmed the incident.
